Your First Day in Albion
Coming Ashore
You awaken on a beach, vague memories of a mighty storm and a shipwreck nestled within your thoughts. You are not where you intended to be!

First, get used to moving around the screen using the mouse, then look at your quest log when the tooltip box pops up. Pay careful attention to your quest log: as you complete tasks, the quest objectives will update and change. Once you are comfortable moving and looking at quests, follow the stairs to the lighthouse where there is someone who wants to speak to you.

The Wounded Crafter will give you a series of tasks to complete, and you should do them in the given order once you accept the quest. Firstly, let's climb up that lighthouse and get a better view of our surroundings. Stepping into the circles will allow you to see your surroundings and the relevant areas you need to know about. At the end of the walkway is a small chest, so don't miss it - you can open it by clicking on it to see if there is anything worth taking inside. That looks like a nice suit of armor - clicking on the helm and other items in your inventory will equip them. Activate the sprint ability to make the journey down the stairs a lot quicker when you are prompted to do so. Back to the Wounded Crafter you go, I expect he has more tasks for you.
The Wounded Crafter will then give you a new quest, to teach you the basics of gathering materials. The resources required can be found in the highlighted areas - in this case, rough logs and stone. Once you have gathered the quantities of resources required for the quest, head back to the Wounded Crafter. Looks like you are now going to learn the basics of crafting - over to the Blacksmith you go to learn how to craft a sword. Your first weapon in Albion!

The sword has two abilities that are currently usable. Thinking ahead to the Heretics on the bridge, pick the one you think will best deal with a group of hostiles. For all your running around, you will receive a shield to assist in your fight. It looks like you are almost ready to show the world of Albion your sword skills. Head to the gate and prepare for a fight.
Good luck, adventurer!

After fighting the Heretics on the bridge using your new equipment, you will unlock the Novice Adventurer node of your Destiny Board. Congratulations! Now you can see the Destiny Board nodes in full. As you gain Fame and fulfill the requirements of each level, new nodes will unlock, working outward towards the edges of your Destiny Board.
Now you must get to the ship we saw from the lighthouse, it isn't far away. When you reach the hideout, your first thing to do is to speak to Captain Tia. She will be able to explain what needs to be done.

It seems the ship is in a bad way, and you will need to help repair it. To help in that endeavor you will first need a mount. Fortunately, the Marketplace nearby should be able to supply one. Now you should speak to the Wounded Crafter in his new location, who has more tasks for you to complete.
It looks like you are going to be busy gathering resources to help repair the ship. The Toolmaker can help you craft tools, but first you will need more resources. Gather 6 Rough Stone and 6 Rough Logs nearby, then speak to the Toolmaker again. You can then craft the two tools that Silas the Wounded Crafter asked you to.

It is probably time to have a better look at the area you are in, which you can do by opening the World Map. You are in a cluster called the Hideout. You can get further information on a cluster by left-clicking on it to open its specific cluster map. Each cluster belongs to one of five different biome types: Swamp, Forest, Steppe, Highland, and Mountain. Each of the different Biomes has different resource allocations as shown in the top right of the cluster map.
It looks like Silas wants to speak to you again, better not keep him waiting!
To start repairing the ship, use your new tools to gather Birch Logs and Rugged Hide. You don't need to equip the tools to use them, having them in your inventory is enough. This enables you to keep a weapon equipped at all times, a useful trait in Albion. Into the Forgotten Woods you go.
Once you have gathered the required resources you can head back to Silas, who most likely has more work for you. Ok, it looks like you need to go into the Mountains next - the location is marked on your minimap. You need to gather 6 Copper Ore and 4 Cotton Fiber from the Mountain Fort cluster, and once you have the required amount you can head back to the Hideout again. Silas seems to be pretty happy with you, he is now going to teach you how to refine all of those resources you gathered so they can be used to repair the ship.

Congratulations, you are now a Trainee Craftsman. Once you have repaired the ship with your refined resources by activating the cross under each resource type, you should speak to Captain Tia in the center of the Hideout.
It looks like there are more Heretics nearby. Captain Tia has marked the location on your map. It is time for you to practice your combat skills again and steal some of their maps. Once you reach the Learning Point Threshold of the Trainee Fighter Node you should use your newly acquired Learning Points to unlock it, so off to the Forgotten Woods you go. When you get close to the Heretic Outpost, dismount and proceed on foot, so your weapon skills will be ready to use should you need to fight. It would be a good idea to equip and eat some of that delicious Carrot Soup you have, it will greatly increase your health regeneration - very useful if you plan on fighting for any length of time.

Once you have stolen the plans, reached the Learning Point Threshold of Trainee Fighter, and used your Learning Points to complete it, you should head back to Captain Tia for your next instructions. That map looks very important: it has a complete layout of the Heretic Fort. Captain Tia thinks it's time for you to get geared up with Novice armor and weapons, as the time to strike is almost here. Look at the Warrior's Forge, Hunter's Lodge, and Mage's Tower to see what equipment is on offer.

It looks like you have some decisions to make on items. Don't worry too much - if you don't like what you pick at this point, you can change your build later by simply equipping different items and unlocking their nodes. For now, pick the items you want to wear based on how you think you might like to play Albion. You can base this on the information given about which types of weapons and armors do what, and which further nodes they will unlock.
You may want to try a mix of all three types of armor at this point - for example, craft or purchase Novice’s Scholar Sandals, Novice’s Mercenary Jacket, and Novice’s Soldier Helmet. Of course you may switch the pieces as you see fit, but this will open the Journeyman Armor nodes of all armor types upon completion.
Check what you need to craft the items you want and go into the Forgotten Woods (Hide and Logs) or Mountain Fort (Fiber and Ore) clusters to gather the resources - or simply kill more Heretics until you have enough Silver to simply purchase items from the Marketplace. The choice is yours! Once you have obtained your Novice items, speak to Captain Tia again and you will be rewarded with a Novice's Cape.
It may be time to fight again, so you'll need to locate the Heretic Fort in the Mountains. Once you've found it, check to see if you need to eat more of that delicious Carrot Soup and start killing Heretics to cause a diversion.

Nice work with the diversion - now you need to create further chaos by setting fire to the Heretics' ammunition storage.

It's time to signal Captain Tia. Fight your way to the location marked on your minimap. The two Heretics look ready for a fight, so focus on one at a time and watch out for their ranged attacks. Once they have been disposed of, you can join up with Captain Tia at the pier and leave this island on the ship you repaired, which will take you to a location of your choice.
Remember, each biome has access to different resources in different levels of abundance, but will only have access to three of the five gatherable resources in Albion. You still haven't gathered a higher-tier version of Albion's fifth resource: stone. Stone is used to build structures, and is quite important if you wish to build houses, crafting stations, or farms of your own at a later date. If you have no such plans, don't worry too much about that for now.
Make a decision based on your requirements for items (if you wish to craft them yourself) or just how you want to play. Selecting each of the locations available without activating "Buy Journey" will give a brief description of what is at that location. Once you're ready, select the location you want to travel to and press Buy Journey.
Arriving in Your First Town
Once you arrive in town, before you do anything, have a look at the icons at the top right of your display with a golden aura around them. Read through what each of them says, then walk up the slope and speak to the Royal Soldier.

The Royal Commander has some tasks for you, and the reward seems very enticing. Three days of Premium is a great way to start your time in Albion!
You may want to check out the rest of the town before accepting any more quests. Of particular note is a large chest in the center of town. This is your own secure bank and it can hold a lot of items. If you have any resources or refined materials you don't want to carry, you can store them in the bank. Each bank is separate from other banks in other towns, so keep a note of what you put where to spare yourself from confusion later. You can move items into the bank by clicking on it and dragging them over from your inventory. For quicker transfers between windows, you can also left-click an item while holding shift.

There are some other quests in town that you may wish to do. Firstly speak to the Royal Crafter to unlock Trainee Craftsman and start the "Focus" questline. Then speak to the shady character at the edge of the map to get your first piece of Gold. You should then speak to the Royal Commander and accept "A Dangerous Place" for Combat Training, then head to the indicated cluster and find the Royal Soldier. You can only have one of these quests open at a time, so it's a good idea to do them in the above order so everything is completed before you leave town for combat training.
The Royal Soldier seems quite glad to see you - it seems there are Heretics on the mainland as well. I'm sure they are nothing you can't sort out, though! Collecting Silver is a very important part of Albion, and there are many ways to do it. For now, we will acquire it from Heretics. There are camps all around you - make your way to the nearest one and start slaying Heretics. If you have any of that Carrot Soup left, it's time to eat it again. Once you have 200 Silver and unlock Journeyman Reaver, it is time to return to the Royal Soldier.

You are off to a different cluster now, to speak to the Royal Captain! Travel to his location and see what he needs you to do. OK, now things are getting serious: you need to find and kill a Heretic boss, either in a local Heretic camp, deep within a dungeon, or in an Expedition, accessible from the blue portal in town.

The Forgotten Vaults
Upon entering the Vaults, work your way around the western side. After dealing with rats and Heretics you will come face to face with a Heretic boss. If you chose to do a Solo Expedition, you will need to fight your way to the end to be able to attack him. Either way, prepare for your hardest fight yet, adventurer.

When you have defeated the Heretic boss, you can use the Expedition's exit portal or select the leave dungeon ability to return to the surface. A short ride to the Royal Captain will see you rewarded with an Adept's Royal Sigil. These are used in the construction of Royal Armor pieces, which are strong pieces of equipment for a given armor type's Artifact node. The Royal Captain suggests you make your way to the first Royal City nearby, so collect any equipment you have at the Town Bank, check your World Map, and plot a course for the nearest Royal City.
Congratulations - you are now free to follow your own destiny within Albion! Be a fighter, trader, gatherer, crafter, farmer or whatever mix of those you want to be. Your first goal should be to unlock Journeyman Adventurer, which will give you access to the Journeyman Transport Ox and Journeyman Riding Horse. If you have not yet done so, you should also unlock Trainee Gatherer, which will open up Gathering profession nodes.
Your weapon skills should now all be at Journeyman or very close, and you can now see that the Fighter nodes for Journeyman Hunter, Mage, or Warrior has opened up (or will shortly open up) new weapon choices for you to try. The same will happen with your selected armor pieces when you reach their Learning Threshold. Don't be scared to spend the few learning points it takes to get these nodes open at Journeyman - just don't go crazy on everything, as Learning Points and Focus are Albion's real lifeblood, and saving them now will stand you in good stead for the long term.
